Limited Run HO-scale MKT/BKTY PC&F 57’ Mechanical Reefer
Produced by Red Caboose exclusively for the Amarillo Railroad Museum, these mechanical reefers add to the expanding fleet of Pacific Car and Foundry 57' mechanical reefers being produced by Red Caboose. The MKT only had 50 of these showy cars numbered 1-50. The models are fully assembled. This is a limited run of 300 cars in six road numbers (1, 4, 7, 19, 29, and 36). The build date is 3-66.
The cars come equipped with Kadee couplers and rotating roller bearing caps on the trucks. We worked closely with Red Caboose and InterMountain to produce an exquisite car that captures the prototype quite well.
Compare the model to the prototype photos Photos. Note that the color variations in the photos of the models is more my poor photographic skills and differing lighting to show off details. All cars are painted in the appropriate Pantone Color Matching System colors for the red body (1805), Katy emblem (1807), with white roof and black underbody and trucks.
These cars are contemporary with our ART 1960 and 1964 ice reefers. You might want to consider some of these models also to build your mid-1960s reefer fleet!
